Abstract: In this talk we study the spread of an infection modelled by random infection of an initial set of vertices, followed by deterministic propagation within a random hypergraph. We will focus on the k-uniform random hypergraph Hk(n,p) where each k-set (edge) is present with probability p.
Generalizing results by Janson, Luczak, Turova and Vallier we show that for some range of p there is a threshold value ac=a_c(n,p,r) for the size a of the intially infected population, such that a→ (1+ε)ac implies infection of allmost all vertices with high probability, while a→ (1-ε)ac means that with high probability the infection will not spread significantly. This is joint work with M. Kang and T. Makai.[hide abstract]
